I want to be moved by the photos I see and take. Sometimes I get in a rut and I feel I photograph the same things over and over again. I want to feel fresh and new in my craft. I’m trying to take my own advice and push myself outside of the box.

They were hot and sweaty and thirsty and itchy…but I made them take a picture with me. They love their Mommy and they knew that having a picture with them was what I wanted for my birthday. (They knew only because I told them a million times as they complained about having to touch each other during the picture.)

Thanks husband for taking the shot and for indulging my need to get out of the city and visit the country if only just for an evening.

Every year we wait a couple weeks for the flowers to turn yellow and tall. Then we put on a pretty dress and find a perfect place. I watch her run around and twirl, she stops every now and then to look my camera straight in the eye. She’s my brunette Rapunzel, my beauty, my 5 year old baby girl.

It’s the best time of the day isn’t it??! Just one from tonight’s annual photo session with my girl in the mustard fields.

I’ve taken a little bit of a blogging break over the holidays! I hope you have had a wonderful start to your year. I know I certainly have. I finally picked up my camera after a long absence and shot for about 10 minutes with Lily. She is getting so big, so fast and I don’t want to miss photographing her while she is tiny.
